The Orchestration Gotcha Nobody Mentions

Kubernetes doesn’t ask your service if it’s okay to reschedule it. It just sends SIGTERM and gives you 30 seconds (default) to clean up. If your framework is mid-inference on a request, that request dies. In-flight data gets corrupted. Model state gets lost.

You need graceful shutdown hooks. When you receive SIGTERM, stop accepting new requests, wait for in-flight requests to finish, then exit cleanly. Set your terminationGracePeriodSeconds high enough to actually drain your workload:
